Who's behind at Uni?

I find it interesting that everyone i talk to seems to think that they are behind on their uni work.

So if everyone thinks they are behind, is it possible that we are not really behind and that we are moving along at the usual pace.

So what is everybody worried about?

they are worried that they haven't done enough study, the funny thing is that you can never study enough. I Think its all about understanding, some people seem to understand things better than others, and then it becomes much easier for them to do well.

But what about assignments?

assignments just need time and effort, and because they only have and end deadline you can never really be behind, you can only have completed it or not completed it.

So who's really behind at Uni???

HOT!!! HOT!!! HOT!!!

for the past few days its been bloody hot.

i dont understand how it can go from being so cold to being so hot, so quickly, its screwed up. especially since ive been sick, my temperature has been all over the place. i have slept most of today, and have only just found out i have a test tomorrow morning.

Dynamics of machinery

interesting stuff, if your able to not sleep the semester away. But unfortunately thats the way it has been so i guess once again im going to have to play catch up. you know the funny thing is that the understanding i have for all of these subjects is not very accurately represented by my scores for that reason. i guess ill just have to put up with it.

and now its dark and im a puddle of melted me, ahhh that reminds me chocolate festival is apon us and soon i will go to have my fair share of all the chocolate i can get. Mmmmmmm!!! so i will eat chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake, chocolate eclairs, chocolate fondoo stuffs etc.. etc.. etc....

but that is next week along with my one week of holidays (study) and it should be good but im a little behind on my project as i was moving the project along to a schedual that i made for our stakeholders and in my sickness i have let it fall behind :( so also need to play catch up with that.

theres a storm coming... i love it, we havent had storms or rain here for years its awesome, actually that would explain the darkness a moment ago. i always found lightning awesome and fun to watch whenever there was a storm i would go out to watch. once i was lucky enough to have strike the top of the hill near my house, i will never forget that one, so strong, so powerful. the main reason i remember that strike was cause it was in the week the it rained all week and as a result it flooded here and turned the creek down the road to a river and flooded all the ovals.

It was crazy

it took 2 weeks for it to die down and then all the plant life around the creek was flattened by the flow

but that wouldn't happen now....

Its Too Hot!!! it would just fizzle and get evaporationised

ahhh Midnight

So its midnight again and im back from work.

I've been fixing my piano recently so that i can play it. Hopefully. Im feeling a lot better after being on this medication, now not so feverish and more like the sniffles. i also took pictures of my lychee tree, its starting to really grow. my brother has friends over and they are doing that "ohh this is sooooooo exciting" thing so they are playing games and talking loudly next door >:( .

lots of banging sounds and loud "trying to be quite" laughing and snickering.

well thats it, i guess it was just an update after all that. (well now that ive actually read it, its more of an update/bitch (an updaitch))

Sushi Train

I've been sleeping and doing nothing lately, except ive been helping my mum write up some lecutres on aromatherapy,

Sooooooooo much work to do and i dont really care about it, unfortunately it needs to be done.

The highlight of my day has been going to sushi train.......... mmmmmm sushi. The only thing i really like about it is that the food comes to you, on a little train.

it's Soooooooo entertaining.

Feverishness

anyone who has talked to me recently will know that i am sick at the moment, and if your one of my friends that i have on msn or facebook you'll know that this morning it blew out into full blown fever.

so i went to the doctor for the first time in years, and he was like

"so whats happening with you?"

and i said "i dont know thats why im here" as you do (cause if you know whats happening then you wouldn't be there would you)

and he said "ok, why are you here?"

i said "i have this runny blocked nose and headache and fever"

he said "well your sinuses look huge" so he pushed his fingers into my head and said "does this hurt?"

i said "no"

he was glad to see that, and we talked for a while (i forgot the rest of the converstation) but at the end of the conversation he gave a prescription for a penecillin based drug, and said take it for ten days one in the morning one at night but then afterwards he said "no drinking!"

im mean im right not to drink for ten days but what if i did, i would probably end up dead or in some wierd place like in the highlands of thailand :S

its really wierd at the moment im all drugged up so i cant really feel anything but im sitting in my lounge with my undies on and im hot, like sweating hot.

the other thing is that i dont have any energy to do anything,


There is only so many times that you can check your email, look at peoples blogs, watch youtube, facebook, before youve seen it all so i started to play my guitar, which was good for a while untill i got hand cramps, and let me say to everyone

Australian TV is Shite, Crap its even Crapp (with the emphasis on the p thats how bad it is)

i used to do the whole myspace thing but it doesnt work for me, i dont know everybody is like its great and its better than facebook but in the end you just end up spralling your self over too much area. you end up writing and saying the same things everywhere. also when you write things to one group of people and not the other accidentally the other group doesnt know about it and that leads to awkwardness in conversations , when you think someone knows something but then they really dont.

but dont think that doesn't happen to me normally, cause i can easily confuse the shit out of people, for some reason my mind is on a whole other wave length people may be on harmonics of my wave length, which would explain why people actually understand what im saying half the time, but that is rare to find someone like that.

but dont think this is like one week i make sense and the next i dont, this happens frequently in conversation, and whats worse is doing engineering, cause i end up explaining random things to random people who were never going to understand what i was on about in the first place..

Set in the backyard, near the orange tree and lemon tree, this video is set to take the world by storm. Though the video starts off developing the theme, it soon runs into trouble as orange seeds fly to the ground. ahh mucus...

such a wonderful thing

i looked it up on google and i found out from wikipedia (the most reliable source of them all) that

"In vertebrates, mucus is a slippery secretion produced by, and covering, mucous membranes. It is a viscous colloid containing antiseptic enzymes (such as lysozyme) and immunoglobulins that serves to protect epithelial cells in the respiratory, gastrointestinal, urogenital, visual, and auditory systems in mammals."

now because of my sickness, which is subsiding, i have the forementioned respiratory mucus. particularly the nasal variety, this is what wikipedia had to say about that

"Nasal mucus is produced by the nasal mucosa, and mucus lining the airways (trachea, bronchus, bronchioles) is produced by specialized airway epithelial cells (goblet cells) and submucosal glands. Small particles such as dust, particulate pollutants, and allergens as well as infectious agents such as bacteria become caught in the viscous nasal or airway mucus. This event along with the continual movement of the respiratory mucus layer toward the oropharynx, helps prevent foreign objects from entering the lungs during breathing. Additionally, mucus aids in moisturizing the inhaled air and prevents tissues such as the nasal and airway epithelia from drying out. [1] Nasal and airway mucus is produced constitutively, with most of it swallowed unconsciously.
Increased mucus production in the respiratory tract is a symptom of many common illnesses, such as the common cold and influenza. i love the final note "Tears are also a component of nasal mucus.". i find it funny because at no other point could they find a way to incorporate this into the paragraph so why not just put it at the end. it is also wierd that it is not really explained what is in mucus, so why would this be mentioned?

is it that important that people must know that tears are a constituent part of mucus when we dont know from what else it is constituted???

there was one point though, "Nasal mucus is produced by the nasal mucosa", so from this my search continues to mucosa...

and what i found was that mucosa is the singular from mucous membrane and that "The mucous membranes (or mucosae; singular mucosa) are linings of mostly endodermal origin, covered in epithelium, which are involved in absorption and secretion."

so this beggs the question what is epithelium?

"In biology and medicine, epithelium is a tissue composed of cells that line the cavities and surfaces of structures throughout the body. Many glands are also formed from epithelial tissue. Epithelium lines both the outside (skin) and the inside cavities and lumen of bodies. The outermost layer of our skin is composed of dead stratified squamous, keratinized epithelial cells. Functions of epithelial cells include secretion, absorption, protection, transcellular transport, sensation detection, and selective permeability."

so obviously wikipedia is not the best source of information for this topic i think i may have to go in a little deeper. So my search continues

i find the "medical" definition of "Nasal mucus: A slippery fluid produced by the membranes lining the nose. Excessive nasal mucus is the basis of a runny nose. Mucus is the Latin word for "a semifluid, slimy discharge from the nose."......... Bahahahaha, how vague.

and then some small success "Of all the body cavities in contact with the outside world, the nose is probably one of the most hospitable: it is warm, very well aerated, moist and supplies unlimited quantities of bacterial food secreted continuously by the nasal mucosa (mucus contains quantities of glycoprotein and dissolved salts). In other words it is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria, which are always present."

Glycoprotein and dissolved salts!!!

the salts im guessing are from the tears but glycoprotein???

"Glycoproteins are proteins that contain oligosaccharide chains (glycans) covalently attached to their polypeptide side-chains. The carbohydrate is attached to the protein in a cotranslational or posttranslational modification. This process is known as glycosylation. In proteins that have segments extending extracellularly, the extracellular segments are often glycosylated. Glycoproteins are often important integral membrane proteins, where they play a role in cell-cell interactions."

"One example of glycoproteins found in the body is mucins, which are secreted in the mucus of the respiratory and digestive tracts. The sugars attached to mucins give them considerable water-holding capacity and also make them resistant to proteolysis by digestive enzymes."

so maybe with water holding abilities the glycoprotiens suck up the tears (the liquid that constitutes tears) and then produces a salty sweet mush, and because of the high concentrations of sugars and salts it becomes anticeptic.

Hmmmm interesting stuff

but i wonder if it is different for when you are sick or in different mucus types???

the cern tests were a huge success, though its a shame that it was not televised nor was it covered well by the internet

this was a world defining moment and the majority of people are sitting at home watching fun with dick and jane, i made a comment earlier about being more important than the moon landings, which i belive is true, and no one at all not even abc or sbs are willing to show it. what is the world coming to where they would watch the likes of the forementioned movie, one of the lampoons holidays, kennys world, criminal minds ( x2) and so you think you can dance.....

my god its hard to rant while listening to norah jones, its too calm. unfortunately its the only thing i can listen too, everything else gives me a headache, this sickness is shit i cant do anything i want to go to gym & parkour. also i found this place near me to do taichi and was going to try it on monday but once again the sickness screwed that idea along with the aches and pains and the need to study intensly.... not a cool week at all..

CERN's LHC project is firing its first beam today 5:00pm AEST

it could do one of a couple of things -

1. it could fuck up and do nothing at all
2. it could do exactly what it is supposed to do
3. it could produce a black hole that will be so small that it will colapse in on its self
4. it could produce a black hole that that will start sucking everything in around it and in a short matter of time the world will be DESTROYED!!!!!!

the projectis said to be the largest scientific experment ever, its in switzerland / france and its huge



for those who dont know its a proton accelerator among other things and today the first shot will be fired to try and reproduce the conditions just after the big bang to further understand how everything works...

there will be a webcast at http://webcast.cern.ch/index.html, visit it now to get an intro to cern but at 5:00pm it all happens. This will be a defining moment in history even more the moon landings (which seem to be more and more in question) its a shame no one knows or understands this is happening.

in my sickness, i dedcided that it might be a good idea to take atvantage of my "spare" time and i went to go and see some movies harold and kumar escape from guantanamo bay and starwars - the clone wars. Starwars was visually impressive, but my favorite part was the awesome square root of three poem by kumar (not really, by some random writer, but still clever and funny)

sickness and pain :(

Today i went to the polish spring festival, i had many foods, lots to drink and a bit of a dance. 'twas fun....

i went to play soccer and basket ball with a few of my friends and that was fun also but it only took one nick. a friend of my came to steal the ball from me and shinned my calf, from then i couldn't walk properly. :( it still hurts now.

in other news, my brother is sick and he is passing it on to me i noticed it the other day but only now can i feel it. so im not feeling too crash hot

aswell i got all the soundtracks to starwars the other day and WOW!!!! it sounds awesome, although i must say that "cantina band" is my favorite, along with the kids at play section and across the stars. but i need to listen to the rest before i can say for sure

but the worst part she lives in another city which means that i cant actually talk to her and find out what she thinks.

somehow i think im making a mistake by not talking to her and making a mistake if i do......

BTW im supossed to be studying at the moment, and this is what im thinking, not to mention the fact that im aimlessly trauling the internet for nothing.....
